Writing Down the Bones

This book found me via a line on Sara B's blog earlier this month and then in a forward to a book that I received as a gift and peaking out a me a couple months ago from the shelves at Elliott Bay Bookstore.

What is it with this book?

Well, I got it from the library this week and now I know. It's like food and Ms. Goldberg's been talking about how "it's all compost" for about 20 years longer than I have. Perfect timing. Thank you universe and the public library.

"We make [a] choice with our feet firmly planted on the ground. We are not running wildly after beauty with fear at our backs."

We are not running wildly after beauty with fear at our backs.

[groan from the pews]

I don't want to be running wildly after beauty looking for the eject button from this month's reality with fear at my back.

Packing up and moving on to the next coffee shop or home to read the bones for awhile.

"To become something new we must consciously do something different than we have been doing. That's why we have the Sabbath and rest and leisure."

Thank you, Sister Chittister.

Amen.

  1. Are you taking a sabbatical from this writing as well? Happy August - may it be rich and joyous, while serene and restful.
