Morning, friends. I got the sweet spot this morning. A table inside next to an outlet with the window wide open and the sun coming up all over me.
I spent 9 hours at Sue's house on Saturday. First sharing stories and songs for the Ordinary Time prayer breakfast and then just hanging with Sue. It felt like a real summer afternoon being hot in the shade talking with her on and off, watching the white curtains blow and so many bees in the flowers.
Here's a poem that's been on my mind as work's been slowing down and I'm choosing how to spend some of my August days. If I'd written this poem I think I'd title it Privilege, but I didn't, Alice Walker did and she titled it Grace.
Grace
Gives me a day
Too beautiful
I had thought
To stay indoors
& yet
Washing my dishes
Straightening
My Shelves
Finally
Throwing out
The Wilted
Onions
Shrunken garlic
Cloves
I discover
I am happy
To be inside
Looking out.
this, I think,
Is wealth.
Just this choosing
Of how
A beautiful day
Is spent.

Thank you for hosting another beautiful summer gathering, Sue. We relax in your hospitality.
Love this poem! Haven't heard it before. And love that I found another post here tonight.
